Take 5ive Issue Four Twenty Twenty Two.                      Theme : Autumn

Marilyn Humbert

first frost
beneath a silver moon
stars glint
this cloudless night
above and below me

our view
from the red bridge
the autumn moon
surrounded by stars
floats in a river

garden path
littered with leaves
I smile
my feet scatter
autumn colours

Joy McCall

the horse chestnut
holds onto its leaves
the rowan lets hers go ...
we are like the trees
holding on, letting go

I wake
to the song of a robin
the sky is dark
from the smoke of bonfires
what fools we mortals be

rain on the roof
autumn oak leaves
kindness kanji
some days
it is enough

Bryan Rickert

a cold
autumn rain
the children
still believing
we’re in love

trees
becoming bare
I open
myself to you
more every day

the end
of a long dry spell
autumn rain
baptizing
the churchyard stones

Ram Chandran

October moon
rising behind the skyline ...
am I
the only soul to watch her
in this concrete jungle

how many years
how many autumn moons
I spent awake
thinking of you...
waiting for your door knock

Susan Burch

raking leaves
into piles…
your group
of followers
bigger than mine

green leaves
turning golden…
settling into
the autumn
of my life

Lafcadio

no words today
the silence allowing
a fresh view
of the way the leaves
let go of the trees

found
by the autumn wind
carrying me
away from home
to a far-away land

Tuyet Van Do

Steps of life

weary afternoon
crushing golden leaves
under her feet
she continues
the steps of life

Colors of romance

in awe
taking a deep breath
she tries to take it all in
a sense of romance
amongst autumnal colors

Rupa Anand

in a russet sari
brighter than
burgundy wine
she dances
the autumn polka

the spring girl
i used to be
long gone--
in her place, an autumn woman
who knows it’s time to walk alone . . .

i splatter
spring, summer, winter
upon the easel:
each season makes up
my autumnal painting

Roberta Beach Jacobson

this season
Mother Nature gives us
so few
hours of daylight
to enjoy each new day

Richa Sharma

autumn tree
multiplying
out of a book
the real colours
of my freedom

of my age
on the same road
a red maple . . .
the less you own me
the longer the passion

Voima Oy

dark so early now
cats vanish in the shadows
spirits in the dry leaves
a plastic bag
becomes a ghost

Hassane Zemmouri

drizzle...
I fill the evening loneliness
with unanswered calls
after the news of wars and epidemics
I hum a song to myself

Minal Sarosh

evening garden
a leaf falling besides me
on the empty bench
what is autumn trying
to tell me ?

the door creaks
as I step into the room
autumn breeze…
on grandpa’s desk
incomplete poems

pausing
to hear my loud thoughts
in the zen garden
the autumn moon dips
silently in the pond

Mark Gilbert

a scooter
dopplering
thru the splitting mist
slicing the pizza
into three

neglected
orchard
nothing
to
fall

raindrops
bless each ear
of corn
the soil remembers
the bad times

Christina Chin

the cradle rocks
grandma knits woollies
and booties ...
autumn Hazel
the newborn babe

the street beggar
acting quite strange
how we blame
it on tonight's
full moon

Chen-ou Liu

leaves drifting
through an open window
onto the floor ...
our bodies entangled
with each other's loneliness

a black widow
weaving autumn moonlight
through the net
an unknown bird settles
on the foreclosure sign

leaves on leaves ...
like a coolie, I dig through
ruin upon ruin
of my immigrant past
to see if there's a future

Steve Wilkinson

late October
the leaves
that lie on my lawn
are as numerous
as the pains in my heart

fallen leaves
floating down the river
another day
in this sad world
to endure my loss
